Frequently asked questions

What does it cost?
Collecting photos is free, for you and for everyone who takes part. You only pay if you order something afterwards: a download, a print or a video of the mosaic, at the usual prices.
Do participants need an account or an app?
No. You share a link or QR code with the group yourself, for example in the group chat. We don't send invitations to participants. They open the link on their phones and add their photos through their browser. If you want to restrict access, you can also set a code for them to enter. Only the organisers log in, using their email addresses.
How many photos can it hold?
The mosaic can contain as many photos as it has tiles, up to 4,900. The exact number depends on the shape of your main photo. You can also set a maximum of up to 50 photos per participant; the default is 5 to 30, depending on the occasion. At least 20 approved photos are needed to make the mosaic if you review photos before they are included. Each account can have up to 3 group mosaics at a time. If one is full, you can start a second. If lots of guests share the same Wi-Fi network, such as at a festival, turn on "Large event": this allows many more photos per hour to be uploaded over one network, with each guest able to add up to 5 photos.
Until when can people add photos?
People can add photos until the date you choose. We suggest a date that suits the occasion, for example 2 days before a farewell or birthday, so you have time to make the mosaic. Photo collection stops automatically when that date arrives or when the maximum is reached. You can stop it earlier or reopen it for up to 6 months after creating the group mosaic.
Who sees the photos?
You can see all the photos. You can also ask up to 3 people to help, such as a colleague or your partner; they'll be able to see all the photos too. Participants only see the photos they submitted. They can see the mosaic on their page as soon as it's ready, or only after you share it: you choose. Anyone who can see it can also order it. If someone requests an email notification when the mosaic is ready, we use their email address only for that notification and then delete it. The photos are stored on servers in the European Union and aren't used for anything else.
Can I manage everything together with other people?
Yes. You can ask up to 3 people to help, for example a colleague or your partner. Your management page provides a link and a code that you send to them; they log in with their own email addresses. They can then view, approve or remove photos, change settings and create the mosaic, just as you can. Only you can delete or restore the mosaic and decide who can help.
What happens to the photos afterwards?
We automatically delete all photos and names 3 months after photo collection ends. We'll email you 14 days beforehand. If you delete the mosaic yourself, the photos are deleted within 7 days, and you can restore the mosaic during that time. If someone orders the mosaic, we keep the photos for that order for another 90 days.
Can I check or remove photos before they go into the mosaic?
Yes. Turn on "I want to approve photos first" and a photo will only be added to the mosaic once you've approved it. This setting is already on for clubs, churches, schools, companies and memorials. If it's off, photos are added to the mosaic straight away. You can always remove a photo.
Can it be a surprise?
Yes. Turn off "Guests see the main photo in advance" and they'll only find out which photo was chosen when they see the final result. For a farewell or birthday it's already set that way, and the invitation asks people not to give anything away. Of course, don't send the link to the person you want to surprise. Would you like to see the mosaic yourself first, or only reveal it at the party? Under "Who sees the result", choose "Only me first" and share it when you're ready.
Which photos work best?
Use the original photos from your phone's photo library or camera. Forwarded WhatsApp photos and screenshots are often small and may look blurry on a print. We don't accept photos whose shortest side is under 400 pixels. The participant is notified straight away and can choose the original photo instead. Close-up faces stand out most in the small tiles. For the main photo, a close-up of 1 to 3 people works best.
