Frequently asked questions
What does it cost?
Collecting photos is free, for you and for everyone who takes part. You only pay if you order something afterwards: a download, a print or a video of the mosaic, at the usual prices.
Do participants need an account or an app?
No. You share a link or QR code with the group yourself, for example in the group chat: we don't send the participants an invitation. They open the link on their phone and add their photos in the browser. If you want to restrict access, you can also set a code for them to enter. Only the organisers log in, with their email address.
How many photos can it hold?
As many as the mosaic has tiles, up to 4,900. The exact number depends on the shape of your main photo. You also set a maximum per participant, up to 50 photos; by default it's 5 to 30, depending on the occasion. To make the mosaic you need at least 20 photos; if you approve photos yourself first, only the approved ones count. Each account can have up to 3 group mosaics at a time. If the group mosaic is full, you can start a second one. Lots of guests on the same Wi-Fi network, such as at a festival? Then turn on "Large event": many more photos per hour can then come in through one network, and each guest can add up to 5 photos.
Until when can people add photos?
Until the date you choose. We suggest a date that suits the occasion, for example 2 days before a farewell or birthday, so you have time to make the mosaic. After that, collecting stops by itself, and also as soon as the maximum is reached. You can stop earlier or reopen it, up to 6 months after you created it.
Who sees the photos?
You see all the photos. You can also ask up to 3 people to help, for example a colleague or your partner; they see all the photos too. Participants only see the photos they sent themselves. Participants see the mosaic itself on their page as soon as it's ready, or only once you share it: you choose. Anyone who sees it can also order it. If someone on that page asks for an email when it's ready, we only use that email address for that and delete it afterwards. The photos are stored on servers in the European Union and we don't use them for anything else.
Can I manage everything together with other people?
Yes. You can ask up to 3 people to help, for example a colleague or your partner. Your management page has a link and a code that you send them yourself; they log in with their own email address. After that, they can do what you can: view, approve or remove photos, change the settings and make the mosaic. Only you can delete or restore the mosaic and decide who helps.
What happens to the photos afterwards?
3 months after collecting stops, we delete all photos and names automatically. You'll get an email about it 14 days before. If you delete the mosaic yourself, the photos are gone within 7 days; until then you can still restore it. If the mosaic is ordered, we keep it for that order for another 90 days.
Can I check or remove photos before they go into the mosaic?
Yes. Turn on "I want to approve photos first" and a photo only goes into the mosaic once you've approved it. For club, church, school, company and memorial it's already on. If it's off, photos go into the mosaic straight away. You can always remove a photo.
Can it be a surprise?
Yes. Turn off "Guests see the main photo in advance" and they'll only find out which photo was chosen when they see the final result. For a farewell or birthday it's already set that way, and the invitation asks people not to give anything away. Of course, don't send the link to the person you want to surprise. Would you like to see the mosaic yourself first, or only reveal it at the party? Under "Who sees the result", choose "Only me first" and share it when you're ready.
Which photos work best?
The original photos from your phone's gallery or your camera. Forwarded WhatsApp photos and screenshots are often small and look a bit blurry on a print. We don't accept a photo whose shortest side is under 400 pixels: the participant sees this straight away and can choose the original. In the small tiles, close-ups of faces stand out most. For the main photo, a close-up of 1 to 3 people works best.
